Tech Prep

Tech Prep has many advantages for students:

* College credit at no tuition cost; average savings are $630.00
* Earn credits for high school and college at the same time
* Remain in high school; no need to attend the college
* Advanced placement in college professional/technical programs
* Develop marketable skills; prepare for a career

Just follow these simple steps and you are on your way to earning Tech Prep credit.

1. Enroll in the required articulated high school course.
2. Register on-line at www.pc3connect.org/wa/btpc.
3. Pay Big Bend Community College a one-time fee of $10.00. (This establishes your college transcript.)
4. Earn an A or B grade in the high school class. Your high school teacher certifies that you have demonstrated the required competencies for the college course.
5. Forward payment and a signed registration form to BBCC within 90 days of high school course completion.

For Parents:
Your son or daughter may currently be enrolled in a high school vocational class eligible for Big Bend Community College Tech Prep credit. The high school class meets the requirements and competencies of a comparable college course. This means your student could receive both high school credit and BBCC credit.

If you have any questions, you can contact your high school vocational director or Mary Shannon, Tech Prep Director at (509) 793-2056 or marys@bigbend.edu.

Note: Tech Prep credits are intended for advanced placement in college professional/technical programs. Up to 12 Tech Prep credits may also be applied to the Associate in Arts & Science transfer degree. Tech Prep credits may not transfer to a four-year school outside of Washington's community and technical college system. It is the student's responsibility to consult with those institutions concerning specific credit transfer and admission requirements.

**There is a new Ag program at Big Bend! Students may obtain their 2 year technical (associates) degree, or their 2 year transfer degree to WSU. Students who plan well can earn 1 full credit while taking High School classes through the Tech Prep articilation agreement. For more information, see your local ag teacher, Vocational Director Christine Armstrong, 766-2666 x2919, or Mary Shannon at BBCC at 793-2056. www.bigbend.edu/techprep
